Lhasa Television Station was established in 1984. Located in Lhasa, a Buddhist holy place, Lhasa is the highest TV station in the world and closest to the sun. It is also the capital city TV station of Tibet. Since its establishment, the TV station has been standing on the roof of the world with its distinct personality and earnest and pragmatic spirit, and has become the leader of the Tibetan media circle.

Lhasa Television uses Channel 10 to broadcast programs in both Tibetan and Chinese languages every day for six hours (19:00-1:00 a.m.). It covers an area of about 80 square kilometers and has a total audience of more than 500,000 people. Its leading network of advertising broadcasting in four places and one city in Tibet can cover most of Tibet. Lhasa TV began broadcasting on December 25, 1984. Cable TV programs have been broadcast since October 1996. Three sets of programs are sponsored and broadcast in Chinese and Tibetan.
